I love camera gear and picture taking. This is a window to my world of photography -- how I see through the lenses and what gear I use.

Graffiti in Toronto
Graffiti is prevalent in most cities, and here in Toronto, graffiti that is not defined as art is considered illegal. Any graffiti appears on the outside of a personal or business property must be removed at the owner's expense. Because of this city by-law, the building right across from where I work has been fighting a losing battle with graffiti "artists". They have been busy removing graffiti on its wall, but usually a few days after the removal of the existing graffiti, another one will replace it.

Graffiti on the Rail Bridge
Graffiti -- NEX-5 & Carl Zeiss 60mm f2.8 Makro S-Planar. Click for larger size.
Dillon and I rode the same path up Don River and went quite a bit further today. We did about 20 KM on the bike path. It was a little too much for Dillon, as he has not been riding his bike for a while, but we did enjoy it.
This picture is of the same rail bridge from the IR pictures in the last post. It's a more close up version. As you can see, kids will not miss any opportunity to "express" themselves. I am not against graffiti and some of them are quite tasteful, as long as they are not in inappropriate places.

Graffiti

A little west of Spadina on Queen street west, has a very high concentration of graffiti art. In fact, graffiti artists are invited to create their art on the walls. I guess that one of the attractions of the area. It seems, however, that graffiti is migrating eastward. There is increasingly more graffiti on the east side of Spadina around Queen street. Building owners have had to battle this trend and clean up, as you can see from this picture where marks are still visible from previous attempts to clean up.
