The NEX-6 with the 16-50mm kit lens that was there, unfortunately, had a deep scratch on the LCD near the bottom. Maybe that's why it was still there. So, $350 more for the new body, or an open-box one with a scratch? For me it was easy. That $350 would pay for a nice Sony 50mm f1.8 lens.
On my way out, I noticed a tiny little Pentax-Q sitting in the display case. Couldn't resist and bought that as well as the price was reasonable. Purely impulsive buy. I may return it if I don't find it suit my needs. Cute as heck though, but I find it too small for my hands.
Tomorrow I will post some initial impressions on the NEX-6, but I can tell it now that I love it.
Sony NEX-6 with 16-50mm kit lens & Pentax Q
hi yu-lin,
ReplyDeletecongratulations on your wise purchases! only the first little scratch on a new toy (such as a new car or a new camera or a new cell phone, etc) is the most painful; after getting over the tiny imperfection, you're back on using and enjoying the toy to the fullest, unmindful of the further little scratches! (just my little thoughts though...)
enjoy shooting with your new toys! happy holidays!

Thanks Emmanuel! The scratch is almost outside of the viewing area so it's not so bad. Cosmetics never really bother me, especially when they don't interfere with the operations. I am already enjoying them.
ReplyDeletesomehow I wish it would have a slimmer lens ... still reminds me of the old 707 Sony (with the zeiss lens)
Deleteobakesan, the NEX-6 with the "pancake" 16-50mm zoom kit lens is about 1/2 the length of the standard 18-55mm kit lens. But, the built quality (at least the way I feel) is not as good as the original silver 18-55mm lens on the NEX-5N.
DeleteI saw that sale and wished I went. Both of those deals are really good. I certainly would have got the Pentax Q too. Let us know what it is like.
