Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 35mm f2.8 as a Close-Up Lens

One of the unique traits of Flektogon lenses is the extreme close-up capabilities. For the 35mm f2.8, the closest focus distance is 0.18m (0.6 ft). This opens up some unique possibilities; you can use the lens as a pseudo macro lens. Also notable is the very nice bokeh, at least from the 35mm f2.8 Flektogon. In some cases, wide angle lenses do not have pleasing bokeh, especially those with aspherical elements.

  1. Nice shot!

Any suggestion of where to find and buy the legacy lens in Toronto beside eBay. Thank you.

    1. The best place to get them is camera shows. There are 2 to 3 shows in the Toronto area each year.

  3. Hi,

I've heard about mirror issues with this lens and the 5D. Have you experienced this?

  4. Even I am curious about the mirror on 5dMk2 hitting the lens at infinity focus. Did you have any such issues ?
