I do not like lenses with very long minimum focus distance, and this Schneider Tele-Xenar lens has a four meter (or 14 feet) minimum focus distance. Totally rules out any sort of close ups. The picture above is the best that I have been able to get. In comparison, the Tamron 135mm f2.5 has a "close focusing" of 1.2 meters (4 feet). This limitation really detracts from the fun of photography.
Thanks. Very helpful information!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good lens stopped down IMO ('tele-tessar' type?). The later version for Instamatic I think can close focus down to a couple of feet. I use this MFD 14 version for scenics and landscape. A bit too slow without enough seperation for me as a portrait lens. There is a macro extension tuve for this lens (Kodak made) that can sometimes be found for sale, but I haven't used it. This could be good for close ups.
